Kindergarten Lead Teacher

I am Ms Mary Anne. I am excited to teach the Kindergarten program for the new school year. I have a Masters in Curriculum and Instruction with concentration in Early Childhood Education for Diverse Learners from George Mason University and Bachelors in Early Childhood Education from the University of South Australia.

I have two children who are young adults, Aaron and Cassandra. Aaron is working in Singapore while Cassandra is working here in Virginia. My husband, Everson is working for Singapore Airlines, stationed in Singapore and he travels back and forth frequently. I spent most of my summer vacation in Singapore.

Although I have been teaching early pre-schoolers and kindergartens for close to 30 years, I have for more than twenty years focussed on planning and implementing Kindergarten programs. My first teaching experience was in a preschool in Catonsville, Baltimore. I went back to Singapore some years back and worked in the Singapore American School for five years with pre-schoolers. I have also worked as a Kindergarten Co-ordinator in an Indian International School. Before joining GBS I was a Senior Kindergarten Teacher in a public Kindergarten in Singapore. While teaching there, I received Good Practice Award (Individual) for three consecutive years and two Good Practice Award (team) from the Ministry of Education, Singapore. I also received the finalist award for Kindergarten Innovation Award presented by Ministry of Education, Singapore for my class project entitled “Water for Life”. It was a steam project centred around water. I enjoy integrating lessons to heighten the impact of learning. Currently I have been teaching in GBS since February 2015.

It has always been a passion for me to teach young minds. It has been a truly fulfilling and most rewarding journey helping and watching children grow in all areas of development. My teacher’s prayer is to be able to help your child grow into exceptional individuals!

The rich experience I gained through the years of teaching has taught me a great deal about children and families. I strongly believe that partnership with families is essential in order to make a difference in a child’s life. By working together we can ensure that a stronger foundation for learning can be achieved.

If you need to get in touch with me to discuss about your child, please do let me know.

Looking forward to a completing a great year with you and your child! 
