Mike Mizak

Kindergarten Lead Teacher

Hello! I’m Mr. Mizak. I have been the Kindergarten teacher at Good Beginnings School since 2015 and after a 2 year hiatus, I am back since August 2023. I am originally from Roanoke, VA and have lived in Northern VA since 2004. I graduated from Radford University in 2003 with a Bachelor’s degree in Communication and, for a time, worked in the non-profit sector for the Boy Scouts of America and in the hospitality industry as a General Manager in a national chain. However, none of those jobs left me as fulfilled as even the smallest amount of time spent with children. I knew that I had a different calling and, eventually, returned to school and earned a Master of Arts in Teaching (MAT) from Liberty University in 2015. I have worked with children in one facet or another for the last 30 years including time as a Pre-K teacher and camp counselor/coordinator.

My wife Rebekah and I have been married since September 2007. We have 2 strong energetic boys - Jakob, an elementary school student, and Lukas, whom you will no doubt see wandering these halls with his own group! When I am not in the classroom, you will likely find me enthusiastically watching from the sidelines at one of Jakob’s football or basketball games or coaching his baseball team.

I look forward to working with you and your child as we equip our boys and girls with the tools to become excited, engaged life-long learners. Our children will employ movement, lively discussions and hands-on art projects, among other methods, to enhance their learning experience. We will focus on all the core subjects while also teaching our children the value of becoming responsible members of a community at home and at school.
